This Legal Disclaimer applies to Smartsteps, its website, its Reports and every communication from Nomisma LLC about them. It forms part of the Terms of Service.

1. Not a Law Firm

Smartsteps is a software product of Nomisma LLC ("Nomisma"). Nomisma is not a law firm, does not practise law, and is not licensed to provide legal services in any jurisdiction. Nomisma's staff do not act as your lawyers.

2. No Legal Advice and No Attorney-Client Relationship

Nothing in the Service, in any Report, or in any communication with Nomisma, including support replies, is legal advice. Using Smartsteps does not create an attorney-client relationship or any other professional relationship, and your communications with Nomisma are not protected by legal professional privilege or attorney-client privilege.

3. Informational Only

Reports, standing scores (green, amber or red), findings, citations, summaries and suggested fixes are general information produced by software, including artificial intelligence. They are intended to help you identify issues to discuss with your legal advisers. They are not a legal opinion, are not tailored to your full circumstances, and must not be relied on as a substitute for advice from a lawyer qualified in each jurisdiction concerned.

4. No Guarantee of Compliance

Nomisma does not certify, warrant or guarantee that you, your website, your documents or your practices comply with any law, regulation, standard or code. A green standing, a "met" finding, or the absence of a finding does not mean that you are compliant or that you face no legal risk. Using Smartsteps, or adopting a suggested fix, does not protect you from complaints, claims, investigations, fines or penalties.

5. Findings Can Be Wrong

Findings are produced by automated crawling, fixed applicability rules and AI models. They can be wrong. They may misread a document or a law, miss something your website does, report something it does not do, apply a law that does not apply to you, or fail to apply one that does. Results depend on the accuracy of the business profile and markets you provide, on what the crawler could observe on the day it visited, and on the content of the documents you submitted.

6. Coverage Is Limited

Smartsteps covers only the jurisdictions and legal obligations described in the Service at the time. It does not cover every law, regulation, regulatory guidance, industry code, court decision or contractual obligation that may apply to you. Areas outside the Service's coverage, such as tax, employment, product safety, sector-specific regulation and many others, are not assessed.

7. Laws Change

Laws and their interpretation change frequently, and regulators and courts may take views that differ from the reading presented in a Report. Monitoring on paid Plans may not detect every change, or may detect it after a delay. A Report reflects the Service's understanding of the law at the time it was produced.

8. Consult Counsel

Before you rely on a Report, change your policies, website or practices, or make any decision with legal consequences, consult a qualified lawyer in each relevant jurisdiction. You remain solely responsible for your own compliance.

9. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Nomisma's liability in connection with the Service and Reports is excluded or limited as set out in the Terms of Service, including Sections 15 and 16. See also the AI Transparency statement for how results are produced and checked.
